a little something to lessen the blow

Yesterday was quite a day at our house, even more chaotic than usual! It all started about 6:45a.m……I figured I would get up and go for a bike ride before the kids first day of school, well needless to say I was a bit tired from trying to fit in our last bit of summer the day before. (We went to see Grandpa & Vauna at the church history museum, where they have served for the past year and a half. It was a lovely day! Spent with Grammie, Aunt Cathryn, Lizzy, Allie, Collin, Uncle Trent, and Aunt Meg.) Back to the story, I made it all the way through my ride and had just gotten my diet coke from McDonald’s, when I decided to (very unwisely, I might add) to take off my jacket while riding…needless to say it did not go well! I think my pride is what hurt the most, aside from my bleeding knee, and bumps and bruises from my arms to my legs. The worst part was my I cracked the other side of my basket, and my diet coke was spilled across the road! I jumped up as quickly as I could, looked to make sure that no one saw “the incident” and was trying to put my chain back on(yes I hit so hard the chain came off!) Before 2 neighbors jogged and drove by. Once again the pride throbbing out of control.
Then it was off to the first day of school, and that is when I cried (in the car on the way back, not at school, of coarse!) Then MaGrath and I met Joan at Dear Lizzie for lunch, where we had cookies and cupcakes to make the world right again. It was whirlwind from the time the kids got home…sign disclosers, fix dinner, and get to the Court of Honor (where Mas got his Tender foot) and YW for the viewing of the camp dvd. In the midst of all the chaos there was one moment that made me actually stop and remember how thankful I am to be a mother…Hurrying from one thing to the next, MaGrath grabbed my leg and said, “Momma, I wish I was guy you got married to.” I said, “How come?” and he simply replied, “Because I love you so much.”
Just a little something to lessen the blow.

rain, rain go away!

it rained, and rained, and rained today! which was fine for a day of cleaning the house…my plan was to actually clean out!!! my yearly organization kick started after seeing our friends new home!!!! anyway, while cleaning away, mason started yelling the basement is flooding!!!!! i ran as fast as could downstairs to find a lake in our basement! and water still streaming in the window! grrrrrrr!!!!!! while mason held buckets up to the window, mccall and i ran outside to start bailing water out of the window well…super fun! so, infect we did a lot of cleaning out!!!! it forced me to start the BIG clean out in the basement, which will just have to continue next week when we get home from aunt cathryn’s house! and hopefully end with a huge garage sale! wouldn’t that be lovely!

And one to go to bed on

While climbing into bed with MagGrath tonight ( which is now very difficult since we have rid ours selves of the horrifying habit of putting him to bed with a bottle, yes he is almost 4 1/2 and we are just kicking the habit this week!) Anyway, Larry said, “Have you seen the toilet in the guest bathroom?” To which I quickly went into find…a lovely little nugget on the floor!!!!!!!! So, I decided to ask MaGrath, “Who did this?” His response, “It was a baby dinosaur! Him came in the garage and him did the code…and him came into the bathroom and went potty on the floor, and then him left!"

tryin’ to earn a buck and learn how to say thank you

Mason has decided he needs a rip stick, which I might add are$55. So he must earn it! He dog sat for our neighbors, did some chores at home, earned his garbage can money, and decided to earn the rest at Nanna and Pappa’s. After a few hours of sweeping, vacuuming, gutter cleaning and getting $5 from Uncle Mark(Aunt Meri’s fiance) he has enough. But while we were there, Uncle Mark fixed the trike for MaGrath. I told him he needed to tell him thank you, to which he simply replied, “No.” After about 5 minutes of trying to tell him why, I said, “If you don’t say thank you, you cannot ride the trike and you will have to get in the car!” Expecting him to finally give in, I watched him turn right around and open the car door and get in! Stinker! When I asked him later why he didn’t say thank you, he held out his hands and said, “I’m just shy, Mamma!"

just a start

With all the lovely chaos in our home, and for lack of recording our lives in a scrapbook(like I used to ever so diligently)
I have made a goal to start recording all those things that may or may not want to be remembered by our little family! Some may be things that are going on right now, and some may be remembrances from past lovely chaos. The events of our lives...
